Fashion photography: Ao Dai by Thuy Tailor
The Ao Dai is more than just a traditional Vietnamese outfit — it’s a symbol of grace, resilience, and cultural pride. Dating back to the feudal era, this elegant garment has evolved through generations, adapting to the fashion trends of each period while preserving its core identity. Ao Dai keeps winning people hearts through time.
Thuy Tailor, a traditional tailor based in Ho Chi Minh city, is making their new brocade ao dai collection. And we were lucky to photograph their new collection.

We decided to photograph new collection in film. Film has it own charm and and can be a perfect couple with ao dai. The soft, muted color from film make it goes smooth with this collection.
Our photographer has a bold move when he choose to photograph these with his old mechanical camera from 60s, Canon FTB. There is something magical about the look from the glass since that area. The creamy, low contrast look really shine in this photoshoot.

Location is melticulous selected. We see that ao dai should be placed in the traditional scene, or oritental architecture. After carefully selected, we traveled to Binh Duong province to the old mansion, built in 19 century. The traditional vibe is so clear, you can feel it in every corner.

When everything’s aligned, it becomes so easy to convey the spirit of the collection. Client and us were so happy with what we achieved.
